Welcome to our new home!

Hi to everyone and welcome to the new home for everything Allan Williams Photography! Susan and I are so excited to be bringing all the separate parts of our world to a single location that contains a great place to share galleries with some of our work, all the recent excitement with blog posts, and a direct link to your private customer galleries. We cannot wait to start filling this space as we share the all joy, beauty, and celebrations as our amazing clients allow us the honor of capturing by their sides. We are however a little sad to let our old blog, that has been our home since 2009, drift off into the never never land of the internet unknownednesssssssss……so we will be keeping the blog alive and linked to this new home. Who knows I may all of the sudden find the hundreds of hours and patience necessary to transfer all that great AWP history to our new home.

Welcome and now go play around in our world and give us a shout anytime. We would love to hear from you!   Allan and Susan

Allan and Susan, What a terrific site! With such lovely photography!

Brittney and Justin’s Nashville Engagement Session

Brittney and Justin are getting so close to their June 30th wedding….and Susan and I are getting so excited about being with them on their special day! The day we picked for their session turned out to be an unseasonably cold evening….but you sure can’t tell by looking at all these great moments between them! Their constant laughter and love for each other kept them plenty warm and had them glowing in their beautiful images. In keeping with my trend to integrate film back into our weddings and portrait work we shot a mixture of film and digital images….I have to say that I feel like a little kid on Christmas morning each time film comes back from the lab. I am so loving the results…so rich and texturally beautiful…..my old love of the film just keeps deepening! As you will see I even left a few of my favorite film images larger for this post…..just more to enjoy. The beauty of Brittney and Justin plus the film….its almost too much!

Congratulations to Brittney and Justin! June 30th is going to be such a special day!!!

Enjoy – Allan & Susan

Jackie and Three – Franklin TN Engagement Session

Congratulation to Jackie and Three on their recent engagement and upcoming wedding! We had a total ball as we bounced around Franklin and shot a mixture of film and digital images….so much fun and so much love between these two. With most sessions I can tell the second I click the shutter that I have just taken the image that is going to be my favorite of the session…….not with this great couple! The connection between Jackie and Three is so wonderful and adoring that each image is just priceless. I just can’t keep from smiling as I look through them……Congratulations again Jackie and Three!

Enjoy!  Allan & Susan

Laura and Ron’s Wedding – April 14th 2012 Arlington TN

Congratulations to Laura and Ron on their beautiful April 14th wedding! Surrounded by a very close gathering of family and friends, Laura and Ron were married in a touching ceremony in her father’s backyard at sunset. For Laura and Ron this day was pure magic…..they met in the halls of their high school and the journey of life brought them together once again! I met Ron on the 1st day of college…..so to say it was an honor to be asked to capture this special occasion for Ron and Laura would be an understatement……who knew that we would all be together for such a great celebration with Laura and Ron more than 30 years later!

Congratulation again!  Allan & Susan

Beautiful work Allan, you told their wedding day beautifully!

Susan in our Franklin studio – Ilford Delta 3200 – Mamiya 645ADF

Last weekend Susan and I slipped into our Franklin studio to play with a few films and cameras we recently added to our camera bag. Thanks to Susan for her impromptu modeling duties. As many of you already know she is my beautiful wife, my muse, and “my better half” in Allan Williams Photography. Each film has special characteristics that bring their unique fingerprint to the final image. This film is primarily designed to capture images in very low light conditions……but more importantly to me it has absolutely gorgeous grain!!! I often used this film in the past when I need to get the shot in near dark conditions, but it occurred to me that I have never intentionally used it for portraits in great lighting conditions just for its amazingly rich grain…….and it will not be the last! I was literally jumping for joy as my eyes got the first glimpses of this film still wet with developing chemicals. Nothing can substitute for real film grain….did I mention that I love film grain:)

Enjoy!  Allan & Susan

Very beautiful photos.

Film is in your future! A glimpse into our film camera bag.

How about a quick look into a new special part of our 2012 camera bag. Along with our normal modern digital fleet we have added lots of FILM and a wonderful selection of professional cameras brought back from the past. Thanks to my stealthy Ebay bidding skills and the faithful UPS truck, I have been able to slowly reassemble my past connection with these beauties that range in age from 40 to 5 years old. Why film you ask??? It is just so beautiful and captures light with a grace and a glow that is somehow not yet part of the digital world. As you check out the picture you will see the 3 different negative sizes that they crate. The smallest format is the standard 35mm that is the identical size to my Canon 5D mkII’s sensor. The leap to the next negative size is quite impressive and at more than 2.5 times bigger. It produces a beautiful mouth watering negative that when scanned can produce a +50mp image to behold. Look for these beauties to become regular contributors … and who knows, I may even have to start a contest to see who can pick out the film images…this could be fun!

Enjoy – Allan & Susan

I to shoot film—medium and large format. Retired (semi) professional but still do an occasional portrait.

I shoot digital when I have too—grand kids etc.
